How to Find Your Ring Size at Home (Without Ruining the Surprise)

Getting the size right the first time makes proposal day perfect — but it is easier than you think to measure secretly, and resizing is always free with us if you miss.

Borrow a ring they already wear

The most reliable trick: take a ring they wear on the correct finger and trace the inside circle on paper, or press it into a bar of soap. A jeweler can size from the tracing.

The string method (use with care)

Wrap a strip of paper or string around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length in millimeters. Measure at the end of the day when fingers are largest, and measure three times.

When in doubt, size up. A slightly loose ring can be resized down easily; a too-small ring cannot be worn at all on the big day.
